Frequently Asked Questions About Licensing

While your organization is encouraged to announce your award even if you don’t choose to license, licensing helps you leverage your recognition for far greater benefits to your facility and your community.

What does licensing mean?

Licensing means that your organization pays a fee to The Leapfrog Group in exchange for permission to use official Leapfrog logos and badges in your marketing campaigns, employee recognition efforts and anywhere you want your audience to understand the hard work you have invested in your patient safety efforts.

What can we do with our license?

With a Leapfrog license, you get rights and permissions to promote your award in advertising, social media, facility-branded gear and any other ways you see fit to inform your community.

Licensees can download high resolution logos and badges in various formats, ready to use in internal and external promotional campaigns, as well as easily customizable print and digital ad templates with multiple messaging options to choose from.

Our widget allows you to embed your Leapfrog badge on your website. With our dynamic code, your embedded badge will automatically update if you achieve your award again in a subsequent cycle.

Licensing also gives you exclusive access to our online store, where you can order a wide array of gear branded with your Leapfrog badge and your facility logo. This store makes it very easy to reward your staff, volunteers and others for their hard work in achieving your Leapfrog designation.

What can we do without a license?

Without a license, your hospital or surgery center can issue a plain-text internal announcement without the use of any program logo and issue a press release without the use of any program logo – and we highly recommend that you do both. In fact, we’ve created complimentary press release templates for your use.

Without a license, hospitals and surgery centers are not permitted to create their own version of Leapfrog’s logos and badges.

Why is there a cost to license?

While The Leapfrog Group is a nonprofit organization, licensing fees, in part, support our work as an independent watchdog and allow us to drive more quality, safety and transparency in the U.S. health system. Support from high-achieving hospitals and surgery centers helps us maintain our independent status and funds our ability to encourage more patient safety initiatives across the nation.
